At Ekya, we believe that real-life experiences enrich classroom learning. Within the school schedule, Ekya plans outbound programs that include field trips, picnics and educational tours. Following are some of the trips that have been conducted as part of our outbound program:


Virtual Trips

Learning outside the classroom never stops at Ekya!

During Covid-19 lockdown, our students virtually visited Paris, Mt. Kilimanjaro and did an interactive quizzing tour of Europe!


Day trip to Uttari Betta

Grade 5 – 8 students went on an exclusive fun-filled certified trekking trip to Uttari Betta (also known as HuthriDurga).
Uttari Betta trek is beginner level trek having 2 summits. On a clear day, one can easily see the famous Savandurga peak from here. The total trek is 3 km one way with 800 ft elevation gain.
The students were challenged to check their physical endurance, mental strength, teamwork and trust building abilities.


Field Trip to Society of Space Education, Research and Development

In December 2019, the students of grade 7 went for their field trip visit to the SSERD. Ms. Nikitha C, the CEO of SSERD began the session with an interesting presentation, where she traced back in time and portrayed the expedition to space for the students. In smaller groups, students then gazed through the telescope and saw a gun powder experiment. The very informative session ended with information and Q&A on space-related careers.

Pench National Park

In 2020, Ekya students of grades 4-9 went on a 4 day adventure trip to the Pench National Park. The students learnt about our wildlife and their habitat through first hand experience. Living inside the national park, students enjoyed Safaris, a trip to a pottery village, tribal dance, and learnt the basics of wildlife photography, camera traps and its importance and tiger tracing techniques.

Learning about the Indian Army at MEG

Students of Ekya Schools had an opportunity to visit Madras Engineering Group (MEG), an engineer group of the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army. With the motto Sarvatra (Sanskrit: Everywhere) MEG holds a strong history of service to the nation. Our students and teachers who were awestruck by the environment of MEG that was brimming with discipline and patriotism have penned down their experience, detailing the surrounding, culture, gallery, and displays at MEG.

The students of grade 9, 10 and 11 from Ekya School BTM Layout visited the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre(KSNDMC) to learn more about weather and disaster management.

The NASA Experience

Senior students of Ekya Schools had a wonderful opportunity to experience space travel at NASA Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) Centre. Our students were hosted at the NASA Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) Centre, where they participated in a new mission simulation that included launching, landing and walking on Mars. Click here to read more about Ekya’s visit to NASA.



Educational Tour to Imphal

The recent school trip of our senior students to Imphal (Manipur) was edifying and gave a whole new learning experience. The collaboration with students from D.M College of Sciences on Foldscope project was a great initiative for value sharing of knowledge with other high school students. They presented an open-minded attitude and were wholly receptive to upcoming research and new forms of learning. Click here for an account of the entire experience by our senior students



Remembering Our Heroes

Senior students of Ekya had the wonderful opportunity of visiting the city’s ASC Centre. It was a thrilling experience for the students of Grade IX and X, as they got to interact with members of the army, and witnessed what it takes to be part of the regiment. Playing audience to Col.Sushant’s inspiring stories from various battles and deployment, the children also visited the ASC Museum and honoured our brave soldiers at the war memorial. Click here to read about Ekya’s visit to the ASC Centre here.



Understanding the Weather

Middle school students Ekya paid a visit to the Indian Meteorological Department, to get a comprehensive understanding of how the weather works, and how it is predicted. They were briefed by experts about the effects of temperature and surface winds, how the weather is forecasted and the science behind it all.



Trips from the past

In 2015, Ekya students went on a 3-day trip to Hampi to learn about the history and archeological significance of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Students engaged in mock excavations and interactions with professors from the Hampi University.

As part of 2014 educational tour, the senior students of Ekya visited the Kennedy Space Center, NASA; the United States Space and Rocket Centre in Huntsville, Alabama; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, and Harvard University. They also attended a workshop at Broadway Theater.

During other field trips, students have visited ISRO, HAL Aerospace, Paramount Biscuit Factory, Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Good Bread Factory, Butterfly Park, the Rainwater Harvest theme park,  local post office and the fire station.
