At Ekya, school clubs are for the students, of the students and by the students with guidance from teachers and mentors. Each club has its own dedicated objective and provides students with opportunities to identify and nurture their unique talents.
The Environment clubs at Ekya are undertaken with the aim to create leaders for environmental awareness and action at class, school and community level. The club gives students the platform they need to make their contributions towards preserving the environment. The club educates students about gardening and its importance – they learn techniques, floral designs and are taught the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle.
The club aims to foster a love for language, enhance literary creativity and provide an avenue for self-expression beyond the school curriculum. In addition to driving the schools’ Editorial board, the club focuses on honing the literary skills of students. It inspires students to develop a taste for literature and also work in the direction of enhancing the students’ spoken and written language. The club hosts a variety of activities with the aim to build the confidence and groom the schools’ talent for interpersonal activities and competitions.
The Coding club
The Coding club focuses on problem solving skills to code and create websites. The students will work on building apps using Java and Python.
This club works towards identifying the sporting talent at our schools. Sportsmanship lies at the heart of this club as it drives students to be their best on the field, providing opportunities at inter and intra competitions. Through the club, the school’s talent has the ability to observe, analyse and judge performances of them and their peers. The club also works towards developing self-confidence and self-esteem through positive sporting experience.
The aim of the club is to provide a platform for students to learn STEM Robotics, using versatile LEGO robotics kits. It enables club members to understand mechanical engineering, software development, electronics concepts and robotics principles with the right guidance and equipment.
The Quiz club at Ekya aims at fostering an informative, fun and fair quizzing environment for students to participate in. It trains the students to conduct quality quizzes as it channelizes the interests of students in all spheres of life beyond the margins of prescribed syllabi. It inculcates a passion and thirst for quizzing thereby encouraging them to gain adequate knowledge and exposure. Students are encouraged to ask questions, think independently and form their own opinions, leading them to be outspoken and expressive, both in thought and action.
ICT or Information and Communication Technology Club aims to nurture creative and programming skills in students, helping them sharpen their research and presentation skills. The club also aims to promote innovation among its members as they seek out technological solutions to problems that may arise in a school environment. It helps students improve their design capabilities and their skills with communication and information technology. It encourages members to appreciate the role of Information and Communication in today’s world. Students are introduced to website building and design among other activities.
The club’s aim is to develop the debating skills of students, enabling members to work on their oration and ability to make effective arguments. In addition to this, the club encourages students who want to improve the communication skills and stage presence. It provides a forum for keen debaters to practice and share their feedback. The club members work in tandem to analyse and dissect topics of discussion, select and evaluate evidence, construct and refute arguments.
The club serves as a platform for members to explore different dance forms and prepares them for inter and intra school competitions. Dance classes are organized to nurture the school’s dancing talent.
The aim of the club is to provide a platform for the school’s music talent – helping them master their skills at singing or a musical instrument and their ability to perform individually or in a group. Being an integral part of the club, the school choir performs at various school events and represents the school in various inter and intra school competitions.
The club promotes the interest of science among students. It engages its members with hands-on experiments and a supportive environment to bring their ideas to life. The aim of the club is to apply science not just within the curriculum as it connects students to the science community outside school.
MUN Club aims for students to develop and experience important social skills such as teamwork and group cooperation, conflict resolution, negotiation, consensus-building, critical thinking, public speaking and listening.
Vogue: Fashion Design Club
The fashion club is designed for students to learn, explore and create fashion. The club nurture the students to be creative, critical, innovative and ethical leaders.
Stand up Comedy Club
The club aims to tickle the funny bones in the young minds and develop a sense of humour in them. It will create confidence in students while on stage and be able to speak their mind in a presentable and humorous manner. Students will develop fluency, confidence and connection with the audience.
The aim of this club is to enable students to make tasty, delicious, healthy and nutritious food through fireless cooking. It will also hone the students’ food presentation skills.
Design Challenge Club
The key and immediate objective of this Club is to create awareness, educate, nurture and inculcate a culture of innovation amongst children. The club will enable the students to generate new ideas and bring innovation to solve everyday problems.
Primarily, the purpose of the Reading Club is to create an opportunity for students to become enthusiastic and enthralled with the wonderful world of literature. By organising a reading group, it allows students to share the various subjective illusions and opinions generated.
The aim of Theatre Club is to teach the students script writing, acting, dialogue delivery and theatre appreciation in various genres.
The TED-Ed Club program supports students in discovering, researching, exploring and presenting their big ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks. The TED-Ed platform allows students to take any TED Talk, TED-Ed Lesson or educational video and easily create a plan of customized questions and discussions.
