STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics is not just an
acronym but an education revolution!
Today, having hands-on experience and the ability to smartly utilise interpersonal
skills and employable skills in any given situation is a unique talent to possess. From
cutting-edge research to the dynamic IT sector, creative writing to content
execution, it is a growing expectation across industries. Schools have astutely
recognised the immense value of this multifaceted skill set and are shaping the very
essence of how students learn.
Ekya Schools is at the forefront of this transformation. Our in-house instructional
designers craft a narrative of creativity, innovation, and inspiration among young
learners by incorporating STEAM into the curriculum. If you would like to know
how, here are a few significant ways we are spearheading this transformation:
Every shared dialogue aims to shift from “conditional learning” to “unconditional
learning”, also known as inclusive learning. To understand it better, here are some
examples from Ekya Schools:
1.Expert Talk – Professionals from diverse fields of study share their
experiences, providing an opportunity for children to step into their shoes.
This experience offers young minds with valuable insights and helps them
gain a clearer perspective to align their aspirations with their dreams.
Eg: Mr. Santosh, an International Ventriloquism artistfrom Hyderabad, entertained
and spoke about his profession with our Ekya Early Years
2.Learning Showcase – It is a fantastic platform created to provide opportunity
for students to present their work, elucidate their processes, and convey the
underlying flow of their projects. It’s a valuable platform to interact with visitors, learn creative and simple methods to articulate ideas and gain
inspiration from the work of others.
Eg: STEAM projects are part of the showcase, and here is a glimpse:Ekya JP Nagar
3.Workshops – At Ekya Schools, workshops play a significant role in our
educational approach. These sessions offer students hands-on experiences to
not just engage but enable them to explore STEAM concepts more deeply.
Eg: in the art workshop conducted by the “Museum of Art and Photography”, our
children explored mythical narratives through art.
Project-based learning is evidently seen in every small science experiment a teacher performs in the classroom for students. These experiments are not only thrilling to witness but also provide children with an easy understanding of the theories, which encompass principles and rules. When students perform such experiments, they develop a much deeper understanding of the science behind them, which fosters a lasting comprehension of the STEM program at hand.
Some of our outstanding project-based learning initiatives include:
1.Makery – in each of the Ekya campuses, students are provided with dedicated
STEAM MakerSpaces that serve as dynamic hubs of hands-on experience
where they explore and experiment without hesitation and learn from failures.
Makery is a dedicated space where children find new ways to learn!

2.The Design Thinking Challenge – 21st-century skills such as problem-
solving, technological literacy, critical thinking, creativity, communication,
collaboration, global awareness, and cultural competency are all excelled at in
this Design Thinking Challenge. Young thinkers learn and develop these skills
through the ability to navigate complex problems of the present world.
Eg: Grade 12 design students turned their classroom into a creative hub, presenting groundbreaking ideas to our guest, Ms. Vindhya from CMR University.
3.Outbound Learning – Outbound programs are thoughtfully crafted and
intricately designed to align with the principles of experiential learning, a
vital component of STEAM education. Through these programs, students
engage in a wide spectrum of hands-on experiences, including industry visits,
educational field trips, treks, blogging, mountaineering, parent-child
interactions, safari rides, overnight camps, and more.
Eg: A trip to Pench National Park was an exciting experience for all our young
explorers!
Nurturing a passion for STEAM education through creative and holistic learning strategies like collaborative and project-based has been one of the best and most effective ways to inspire a lifelong love for exploration, innovation, and problem-solving in students at Ekya Schools.
Technology has always played an important role in enhancing STEAM learning. Ekya Schools has been incorporating cutting-edge technological approaches, including the best ways to use AI technology, to provide students with an immersive educational experience.
With each step taken towards integrating STEAM knowledge with the hands-on learning experience, we have ensured that our children receive local, regional, national, and global perspectives. By addressing these gaps in STEAM education, we aim to prepare our students for the complex challenges and opportunities of an interconnected world.
Ekya Schools stand as pioneers in education, with a presence across five campuses across Bengaluru, ITPL, BTM Layout, JP Nagar, Byrathi, and NICE Road. At Ekya, we’ve seamlessly embedded STEAM experiential learning across CBSE, ICSE, and IGCSE curriculums. Our approach goes beyond mere knowledge transfer to knowledge sharing and active engagement with students. As a notable K-12 school and one of the best Montessori schools in Bangalore, we lay the foundation for a lifelong love for learning, ensuring that every child’s educational journey is marked by curiosity, creativity, and a holistic understanding of the world.
What a whirlwind of emotions the World Cup has been for us this year. As we reflect on India's journey, it's important to appreciate the highs and acknowledge the hurdles that make cricket the unpredictable and thrilling sport that it is.
First, let's talk about the glory of the incredible feat achieved by our team—10 consecutive victories! From dominating the league matches to an emphatic win in the semi-finals, the Men in Blue showcased exceptional talent, teamwork, and determination. It's no small feat to achieve such a remarkable winning streak, especially on the grand stage of a World Cup.
Individual brilliance added a special flavour to our campaign. The iconic Virat Kohli notched up his 50th century, putting his name further in the greats of cricket history. It's not just a personal milestone, it’s a sign of his dedication and skill, constantly inspiring fans across the globe.
Let's also take a moment to celebrate the team's collective achievement—a record for the most number of wins in a World Cup for India. This achievement speaks volumes about the depth and resilience of our cricketing talent. Each player, from seasoned veterans to emerging stars, played a pivotal role in scripting this success story.
Now, let's talk about the shining star of our bowling attack—Mohammad Shami. His stellar performances left an indelible mark on the tournament. The way he consistently delivered under pressure, taking crucial wickets and displaying impeccable control, deserves a standing ovation. Shami's contributions were more than just statistics; they were moments of sheer brilliance that fueled our hopes and dreams.
However, as we know, cricket is a game of uncertainties, and the final proved to be a bitter pill to swallow. Facing a formidable opponent like Australia, we encountered a tough challenge, and the result didn't swing in our favour. It's disappointing, no doubt, but let's not forget the journey that led us to that final. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, and the lessons learned will only strengthen our team.
In the grand scheme of things, this World Cup has been a showcase of our team's resilience, and individual brilliance, and a testament to the spirit of the game. As Indian fans, let's stand tall, applaud the achievements, and rally behind our team. We may not have lifted the trophy, but our journey was nothing short of spectacular, filled with moments that will be etched in our memories for years to come.
Here's to Team India, a source of pride and inspiration! Until the next cricketing adventure, let's continue to bleed blue and celebrate the spirit of the game we love so dearly."
“Entrepreneurs tend to see opportunities everywhere, believing there are limitless possibilities to explore and create.”
This abundance mindset encourages children to take risks and invest in their ideas, as they believe in the potential for growth and success. 2. The Art of Risk-Taking Risk-taking does not necessarily entail engaging in harmful or dangerous activities. It simply means moving out of the known and bravely exploring unknown ideas, concepts, and opportunities. This trait is nurtured through our enrichment programs, such as Outbound Learning, Design Thinking, and Deep Dive, which encourage students to step out of their comfort zones and explore new horizons.“A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.”
As our students develop their entrepreneurial mindset, they understand that a strategic and informed approach to learning also involves exploring new possibilities and pushing the boundaries, a cornerstone of innovation and success. 3. Seeing the World Through Personal and Collective Experiences Empathy is a small word with immense significance, especially when children learn to lead, ideate, and inspire. It forms the bridge that connects them with the broader human experience. It is the key to forging meaningful connections, sparking creative collaborations, and making a positive impact in the world.“By understanding the feelings and perspectives of themselves and others, young ones can navigate the world's complexities with grace and wisdom.”
Empathy fosters not only personal growth but also paves the way for collective progress, enabling children to build and be a part of a more compassionate, inclusive, and innovative society. At Ekya Schools, we recognise the power of empathy as a vital component of the entrepreneurial mindset and nurture it through Service Learning Programs and school leadership events. 4. Creative & Collaborative Growth Mindset What makes a movie speak to us? The answer lies in the subliminal creativity and collaborative efforts of a tight-knit team working behind the scenes. Fusing their ideas and skills results in the mesmerising world of cinema, where emotions, dreams, and imagination take centre stage, captivating audiences and leaving a lasting impact. This same spirit of creativity and collaboration, driven by a growth mindset, is fostered in our educational approach at Ekya. Students are encouraged to work together, combining their unique talents to create something more significant than the sum of its parts, whether in the arts, sciences, or any other endeavour they choose to pursue.“It is in this environment that young minds learn the art of creative expression and the power of teamwork, skills that will serve them well in their future entrepreneurial and innovative pursuits.”
