The Flag of India is of great significance and honour to the Indian public. The Indian flag is a symbol of national pride which represents the hopes and aspirations of Indians.

 Flag hoisting and national anthem

Hanish Reddy, Head boy of the School delivered the Welcome Speech on the occasion of Independence day.

Independence day programme began by invoking the blessings of the Almighty by the school choir.

The environment around us is an essential part of human survival. A Clean Environment is Essential for Healthy Living. The problems we are facing now are tough. However, the good news is that one does not have to be an expert or a millionaire to save the Planet – everyone can help to do their bit for the environment. In other words, if each of us can be more conscious of environmental issues and willing to take some simple steps to save the Planet, we can make a huge contribution. Our dance drama here says it all.

Students showcased their veneration to mother India by reinforcing the importance of freedom through dance. This also emphasised the vital aspects of India and its unity in diversity through the song “Ye jo des hai mera…..”

To commemorate the indomitable spirit of our freedom fighters and political patrons of that time, the song that was presented was a call to the young who are the future of this country.

“Let us as the future of this beautiful nation work towards peace, unity and development. With our new fresh ideas and opinions, we shall bring about a change that will change the way the world looks at India.” – with this motto, a medley of songs was rendered by our choir. At the end of the song, the entire staff gathered along with the choir and glistened in tricolours.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms.Diya Anil Kumar, the editor of the school.

Sweets were also distributed on this happy occasion.

The Power of Learning with Intent: A Guide to Purposeful Education

In a world brimming with information, the art of learning has evolved beyond the mere acquisition of facts. Learning with intent, a deliberate approach to education emphasises quality over quantity, depth over breadth, and purpose over passive absorption. It’s about cultivating a mindset that transforms knowledge into meaningful action and empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of the modern age effectively.

At its core, learning with intent involves setting clear objectives and actively engaging with the subject matter. Whether exploring a new language, delving into scientific principles, or honing a creative skill, intentionality infuses each learning endeavour with purpose and direction. As Albert Einstein aptly said, "The only source of knowledge is experience." This quote amplifies the importance of active participation and hands-on learning, highlighting that true understanding arises from deliberate engagement with the material.

Furthermore, engaging actively with the material is paramount. Embrace challenges and embrace mistakes as opportunities for growth. This proactive approach not only deepens your understanding but also cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for success in any field.

Moreover, learning with intent emphasises relevance and applicability. Seek out opportunities to apply newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios, bridging the gap between theory and practice. By contextualising learning within your personal or professional sphere, you enhance its significance and utility, making it more likely to stick.

In conclusion, learning with intent is a transformative approach that transcends traditional notions of education. By setting clear objectives, engaging actively, prioritising relevance, and fostering a growth mindset, individuals can harness the full potential of learning to achieve their goals and thrive in an ever-changing world. So, embark on your learning journey with purpose, and let each lesson propel you towards a brighter, more fulfilling future.

Gadget-free Summer Break

With summer vacation around, I urge parents to explore various ways to facilitate children to make healthy choices during their vacation time.

Last week, when we asked our Early Years to visualise their characters and create a story, most of them came up with stories about ghosts and monsters attacking others.  When we had conversations about what gave them this idea, we understood that these story ideas emanated from their online games. While gaming per se develops specific skills and requires focus, it also stifles the imagination of young children. Since it is visually appealing, children tend to remember those images in their heads all the time.

I often see parents providing very young children (1 year to 3 year olds)  with gadgets as the means to keep children engaged and entertained. I see children watching phones in the waiting areas of clinics, hospitals, school lobbies and banks.

This brings us to a fundamental question “ Should children be engaged by parents all the time?” Not necessarily. What is likely to happen if children were not handed over gadgets at the waiting lounges? What would they do? Some of them may cry, some may throw a loud tantrum, and some may crib. If parents show resilience and allow children to settle down themselves, they will soon find ways to keep themselves engaged. Likewise, during summer vacation. What if this is a “no gadget” vacation and parents do not take up the responsibility to engage their children? What would children do? How can parents show resilience here and facilitate children to make healthy choices? I leave the readers with this thought for this summer vacation.

The Eye of the Storm

In the hushed embrace of an Indian evening, our journey began, a symphony of anticipation orchestrated by the hum of jet engines and the flutter of boarding passes. The promise of adventure beckoned from distant shores as we boarded our flight bound for the United Kingdom, our hearts aflutter with dreams of far-off lands and newfound horizons. But as we soared through the velvet sky, a foreboding shadow loomed on the horizon, a harbinger of the chaos that was soon to unfold. In the blink of an eye, the tranquil serenity of our airborne sanctuary was shattered by a deafening crack, a burst of purple lightning that danced across the heavens with an otherworldly fervour. The air crackled with electricity as the plane shuddered beneath the force of the storm, its metal frame quivering in defiance against the tempestuous onslaught. And then, in a heart-stopping moment of sheer terror, the heavens unleashed their fury upon us, casting our fragile vessel into a maelstrom of chaos and uncertainty. The sky darkened to a shade of ominous charcoal as the winds howled with a primal ferocity, tearing at the wings of our faltering craft with savage intent. The cabin was awash with panicked cries and frantic prayers as we clung to our seats with white-knuckled desperation, each passing moment stretching into eternity.

And then, as if mocking our feeble attempts at control, the plane tilted almost 180 degrees, its nose plummeting towards the earth with a sickening lurch. Time seemed to stand still as we hurtled towards the ground, our fate hanging in the balance as the world spun wildly out of control. But just when all hope seemed lost, a glimmer of salvation emerged from the chaos, a beacon of light amidst the encroaching darkness. With a mighty roar, the engines surged to life once more, their thunderous symphony drowning out the cacophony of the storm as we clawed our way back from the brink of oblivion. As the storm clouds parted and the sun cast its golden rays upon the horizon, we emerged battered but unbroken, our spirits buoyed by the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity. And though our journey had been fraught with peril and uncertainty, we emerged from the crucible of the skies stronger and more resilient than ever before. For in the crucible of adversity, we discovered the true measure of our strength, our courage, and our unwavering determination to defy the odds and chart our course through the tempestuous seas of life. As we touched down on solid ground once more, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the world around us, a testament to the indomitable spirit of the human soul.

Independence Day at Ekya School JP Nagar

Ekya School JP Nagar put up a heart-warming show on the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day. We have not forgotten the sacrifices, made by the Indian masses to set up a country of their own, 73 years after gaining our independence and we never will. In honor of the noble lives who sacrificed themselves for our freedom, we organized an hour-long event. Our tribute began with a beautiful rendition of Vande Mataram by our choir. This was followed by the flag hoisting by Ms. Ayesha Sirajuddin, our beloved Vice-Principal. With great pride, we sang the national anthem after which was a classic spectacle – the march past. As part of the march past, the students from the four houses – Bhoomi (orange), Jal (green), Vayu (blue) and Agni(yellow) – lined up in their formations and marched for the audience, with the Student Council leading them. This segment of the program ended with an inspiring speech by the Head Girl, Jahnavi Rajesh. She spoke of India and its might; she spoke of the lives laid down and the lives made. Her heartfelt speech moved the audience and instilled patriotism in everyone. The entire program was anchored by Prasidh Pradeep and Anvita Hakkalamani of Grade X. They led the audience to the next segment; a rendition of ‘Chodo Kal Ki Batein’ by our junior choir. A readers’ unit called ‘Proud Indian Read Indian' showcased the importance of reading Indian literature. India is slowly losing its writers and its literature. Indian literature, be it modern or classic, is rich in its description of our way of life. They tell stories unique to our motherland. We should never forget its versatility and its beautiful language. Students from grades 5 to 8 then had a beautiful semi-classical dance. This was followed by a drill by the boys of grades 5 and 6, who paid tribute to our tricolor. The girls of grade 9 performed a graceful classical dance that made the audience marvel.          The program was concluded with a vote of thanks, thanking all the hands that pitched in to put up the show as well as, of course, the audience. The parents, as well as the students, then had a fun time meeting their friends and teachers on this auspicious day. The program was indeed a success. A lot of people helped make this possible and I again, express my gratitude to them.  With several decades into independence, the enormity of the sacrifices and hard work put in to free our country is slowly being forgotten. But the sense of belongingness and patriotism continues to bind us all. Ours is truly a  sacred land, made by the blood, sweat, and tears of the Indian masses. Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind. Independence Day Celebration at Ekya School Byrathi

Ekya School Byrathi celebrated Independence Day to remember with pride the commitment and contribution of the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives for the cause of India. The celebrations started with Flag Hoisting followed by the invocation song. Irrespective of our culture, civilization, caste, creed, and religion, the most important and binding factor is our National Flag. The Tricolor symbolizes courage, truth, and prosperity. Ms. Shubhra Sinha, Head of School, Ekya Byrathi welcome the guests to the celebrations and delivered the welcome speech. The celebrations included a list of performances by the students. MONTESSORI PROGRAMME: "Ethnic is tradition, cultures, real beauty, ethnic is real me, real feelings, Ethnic is me in Mine." The Montessorians showcased the diversity of our nation. Students came in traditional dresses of Punjab, Coorg, Kerala, Andhara Pradesh, and Gujarat. We had a student dressed as Bharat Mata, the national personification of India as a mother goddess, usually depicted as a woman clad in a saffron sari holding the Indian national flag, and sometimes accompanied by a lion. A student came dresses as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India and a central figure in Indian politics before and after Independence. Cultural Program Dance in India is much more than mere body movements, from the very ancient times, the classical dance forms are considered as a discipline and a way portraying their devotion to God through art. India has many dance forms coming from every state in the country. The students from Grades 1 to 7 gave mesmerizing dance performances such as; Gujarat - Garba, a form of dance which originated in the state of Gujarat in India. Many traditional garbas are performed around a centrally-lit lamp or a statue of the Goddess Shakti. The sticks used for the dance represent the sword of Goddess Durga. Karnataka - Dances of Karnataka are one of the ancient dance forms existent in India. Most of the tribal dances are still in effect and enhanced by the nature-loving culture of the Kannadigas. Rajasthani - Kalbelia or Kabeliya is a dance performed by the tribe of the same name. This dance is an integral part of their culture and performed by both men and women. Goa - Music, and dance form the very fiber of rural Goa. Each occasion and region has its distinctive forms. The urban areas have adapted to modern and popular music styles. Goan folk dances bear a tradition of thousands of years, characterized by innumerable forms performed by and reflecting lifestyles, cultures, and aspirations of different strata, religions, and castes of the Goan society. The School also organized games such as Kho-Kho and Chess for the parents conducted by our PE instructor, Mr. Karan, and Ms. Melody. There was a canvas board put up in the courtyard to capture the thoughts on the topic, "What does freedom mean to you" Parents were requested to contribute their thoughts and ideas on the same and help create valuable insight for our students. Jai Hind!
