The preparation:-

My wish was to travel in a caravan. Recently my wish came true by going to a campervan which is called LuxeCamper, and my brother joined me on the trip, I met him after 2 years! which made it more exciting.

The main part:-

After a long journey we made it to a local restaurant for breakfast on a highway, and got back in the van, after a while I fell asleep and when I woke up I was at the campsite, the campsite name was Harley-Estate a beautiful place full of greenery, there is a lake, a pond, waterfalls, a hanging bridge, plantation around- coffee, areca nut, and so many things. Hey, there were cycles kept for us already too!! We walked to our tents which were ready and looked around and we were greeted by the staff and we went to the lounge and had some yummy lunch, then I and my brother went fishing and caught 3 fish!, we met some fishing guides too, they told us they’d spotted a turtle in the pond!!, then at the evening we went for a short trek, then we found an amazing waterfall stream, and played there, took plenty of photos, Hey I also took my Instax polaroid camera and I have captured some lovely moments in it…. then it was soon getting dark and we watched the sunset, had snacks, played board games, then lastly we had a bonfire, so relaxing to lie down under sky and watch stars and we fried paneer, mushrooms, corn, capsicum in Barbecue and more yummy meals for our dinner. We fell asleep talking amidst the amazing greenery to the sound of flowing water and insects and cricket sounds around!! Then the next day I woke up feeling fresh and excited to the amazing sound of chirping birds, then we went for a walk and on the way, we went to a hanging bridge, under the hanging bridge there was crystal clear water filled with big and small rocks and we saw a lot of tiger fishes, it was so much fun trying to catch fish and tadpoles with our clothes!! the old trick for fishing which my grandmother always told, we walked back to the lounge area then we dried off and shortly after we had tasty breakfast, we made friends with fellow campers at the site and cycled with them and played ball games and so unwillingly we had to pack up and head back to Bangalore!! Nevertheless, we had more fun while travelling back in the caravan, we sang, danced, played board games and guess what my aunt had got go pro and we spoke about lots of things on the go and recorded them for memories!! I will cherish my first caravan trip always!! This caravan was always a dreamy fancy thing since I watched it in a Peppa pig cartoon and always kept asking my parents to take me on one!!! I’m so glad we made it in the first caravan in India!! We reached home by evening and bid goodbye to our team and caravan!! Later my grandparents had prepared amazing favourites for our dinner, so we had a picnic on our balcony and spoke about the trip and had ice cream and saw pictures together! To wind up, the next morning we dropped my brother at the railway station and said my last goodbyes to him and that was The end.

Oh wait, I’m already looking forward to my next caravan trip!! How’s your summer break going on?? Do let me know.

Thank you

The Power of Learning with Intent: A Guide to Purposeful Education

In a world brimming with information, the art of learning has evolved beyond the mere acquisition of facts. Learning with intent, a deliberate approach to education emphasises quality over quantity, depth over breadth, and purpose over passive absorption. It’s about cultivating a mindset that transforms knowledge into meaningful action and empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of the modern age effectively.

At its core, learning with intent involves setting clear objectives and actively engaging with the subject matter. Whether exploring a new language, delving into scientific principles, or honing a creative skill, intentionality infuses each learning endeavour with purpose and direction. As Albert Einstein aptly said, "The only source of knowledge is experience." This quote amplifies the importance of active participation and hands-on learning, highlighting that true understanding arises from deliberate engagement with the material.

Furthermore, engaging actively with the material is paramount. Embrace challenges and embrace mistakes as opportunities for growth. This proactive approach not only deepens your understanding but also cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for success in any field.

Moreover, learning with intent emphasises relevance and applicability. Seek out opportunities to apply newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios, bridging the gap between theory and practice. By contextualising learning within your personal or professional sphere, you enhance its significance and utility, making it more likely to stick.

In conclusion, learning with intent is a transformative approach that transcends traditional notions of education. By setting clear objectives, engaging actively, prioritising relevance, and fostering a growth mindset, individuals can harness the full potential of learning to achieve their goals and thrive in an ever-changing world. So, embark on your learning journey with purpose, and let each lesson propel you towards a brighter, more fulfilling future.

Gadget-free Summer Break

With summer vacation around, I urge parents to explore various ways to facilitate children to make healthy choices during their vacation time.

Last week, when we asked our Early Years to visualise their characters and create a story, most of them came up with stories about ghosts and monsters attacking others.  When we had conversations about what gave them this idea, we understood that these story ideas emanated from their online games. While gaming per se develops specific skills and requires focus, it also stifles the imagination of young children. Since it is visually appealing, children tend to remember those images in their heads all the time.

I often see parents providing very young children (1 year to 3 year olds)  with gadgets as the means to keep children engaged and entertained. I see children watching phones in the waiting areas of clinics, hospitals, school lobbies and banks.

This brings us to a fundamental question “ Should children be engaged by parents all the time?” Not necessarily. What is likely to happen if children were not handed over gadgets at the waiting lounges? What would they do? Some of them may cry, some may throw a loud tantrum, and some may crib. If parents show resilience and allow children to settle down themselves, they will soon find ways to keep themselves engaged. Likewise, during summer vacation. What if this is a “no gadget” vacation and parents do not take up the responsibility to engage their children? What would children do? How can parents show resilience here and facilitate children to make healthy choices? I leave the readers with this thought for this summer vacation.

The Eye of the Storm

In the hushed embrace of an Indian evening, our journey began, a symphony of anticipation orchestrated by the hum of jet engines and the flutter of boarding passes. The promise of adventure beckoned from distant shores as we boarded our flight bound for the United Kingdom, our hearts aflutter with dreams of far-off lands and newfound horizons. But as we soared through the velvet sky, a foreboding shadow loomed on the horizon, a harbinger of the chaos that was soon to unfold. In the blink of an eye, the tranquil serenity of our airborne sanctuary was shattered by a deafening crack, a burst of purple lightning that danced across the heavens with an otherworldly fervour. The air crackled with electricity as the plane shuddered beneath the force of the storm, its metal frame quivering in defiance against the tempestuous onslaught. And then, in a heart-stopping moment of sheer terror, the heavens unleashed their fury upon us, casting our fragile vessel into a maelstrom of chaos and uncertainty. The sky darkened to a shade of ominous charcoal as the winds howled with a primal ferocity, tearing at the wings of our faltering craft with savage intent. The cabin was awash with panicked cries and frantic prayers as we clung to our seats with white-knuckled desperation, each passing moment stretching into eternity.

And then, as if mocking our feeble attempts at control, the plane tilted almost 180 degrees, its nose plummeting towards the earth with a sickening lurch. Time seemed to stand still as we hurtled towards the ground, our fate hanging in the balance as the world spun wildly out of control. But just when all hope seemed lost, a glimmer of salvation emerged from the chaos, a beacon of light amidst the encroaching darkness. With a mighty roar, the engines surged to life once more, their thunderous symphony drowning out the cacophony of the storm as we clawed our way back from the brink of oblivion. As the storm clouds parted and the sun cast its golden rays upon the horizon, we emerged battered but unbroken, our spirits buoyed by the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity. And though our journey had been fraught with peril and uncertainty, we emerged from the crucible of the skies stronger and more resilient than ever before. For in the crucible of adversity, we discovered the true measure of our strength, our courage, and our unwavering determination to defy the odds and chart our course through the tempestuous seas of life. As we touched down on solid ground once more, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the world around us, a testament to the indomitable spirit of the human soul.

#TeacherBlogger: Ways To Teach Communication Skills By, Sajida Mohammed English and Social Science Teacher, Ekya Schools, Byrathi

Ways to Teach Communication Skills in the Classroom “The art of communication is the language of leadership.” –James Humes Building communication skills are supremely important in every aspect of life. In today's world, communication is the most vital skill that pupils require. Teachers are concentrating on pupils' writing and speaking skills to help them succeed in communication. Teaching communication is not uncomplicated work for a teacher because many students who have linguistic ties to their mother language and children lack exposure to the various components that must be considered while talking in English. Students' ability to communicate is measured not just by their ability to absorb complicated words, but also by their ability to employ those words effectively when conversing with others. Effective communication skills are a technique to garner their best interest, whether you're a politician, a businessman, a teacher, a counsellor, a trainer, or even a student. Teaching these skills to kids will create a very strong foundation to reach their goals. Some students may have emotional or physical barriers to learning excellent communication skills, and they may be hesitant to speak up in a group situation or communicate their views and feelings with classmates because they are bashful in front of their peers or have difficulties comprehending opposing viewpoints. Thankfully, instructors can assist hesitant children in finding their voice through verbal, nonverbal, visual, and textual communication. According to studies, students' success is directly tied to interactive, engaging instructional environments created by capable teachers. To create a secure and helpful learning environment in your classroom, you must also adapt content to different learning styles, motivate students to learn, form supportive connections through encouragement and empathy, manage the classroom, and provide feedback. Effective communication is required by all of these variables. Here are a few classroom tactics to help pupils improve their communication skills that you might find beneficial.
  1. Self- motivation
  2. Listening intently
  3. Create a group project
  4. Group role-playing games
  5. Keep a journal and think about it.
  6. Make a supportive learning atmosphere.
  7. Reading, writing, and communication activities in the classroom
  8. Body language is an important aspect of communication.
  9. Always be precise and straightforward in your communication, and tailor your language to your intended audience.
Communication may make or break a career in the modern world. Being a good communicator can help you advance in your work. Being able to communicate with people gives you a strong benefit! Students who have good communication skills in school go on to bargain or make a solid case for promotions during interviews. No matter how skilful or intelligent a person is, those who fail to communicate well are typically disregarded. Communication is the most important part. It is essential to express one's thoughts and feelings to survive a fuller, better life. If we converse more, we will suffer less and feel better about our surroundings. To communicate one's message, it's even more necessary to develop the talent for good communication.

#TeacherBlogger: SPONGE By, Lavanya Nair , Co-curricular Coordinator (Primary School, Ekya Schools, Byrathi

As the famous quote goes, “EVERYDAY IS A CHANCE TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW”. After pondering for a long time and introspecting myself, I realized that I consider myself a sponge. Just as the sponge absorbs a lot of water, I get soaked in learning new things.  I love to seek and learn anything new and interesting; be it art, music, or fitness, everything excites me, and the best of me is seen, when I am wrung out, reflecting all my abilities. It is rightly said ‘Never stop learning because life never stops teaching”. With a pinch of positive attitude and enthusiasm, one can achieve the greatest things by keeping their mind open to new opportunities. As I had the opportunity to learn and teach at a young age, I was blessed to work with the children. Children constantly showed me how beautiful and amazing things in life can be done. If we all could see the world through the eyes of a child, we would see the magic in everything. A child can teach us 3 things- to be happy, busy, and curious. We know that the future belongs to the curious. It belongs to the ones who are not afraid to try, explore, and question it. One should be ready to take that risk. When you are curious, you find a lot of interesting things to do. I see the child in me when it comes to learning, exploring, and experimenting. Today I’m proud to be an educator. I can appreciate, teach, and be curious to see the magic around me. Travel has been another important part of my life. It brings change, broadens your mind, and opens your heart. In my travel experiences, I’ve seen a lot of change. Change is important, it's an opportunity to grow and learn life skills. Change is the mindset to accept and appreciate others. In my professional career, abroad or in India, I always wanted to make a difference in children. One such experience is when I worked as a primary teacher. I challenged myself to change a few students who were unnoticed and needed that attention. Simple gestures of compassion and awareness make all the difference. Making sure that such students are allowed to be motivated helps them in building their self-esteem and confidence. As Dalai Lama rightly said. “When educating the minds of your youth, we must not forget to educate your heart”. Motivate yourself to reach that enthusiasm. Life is a magnet. What you give is what you attract. I’m thankful to a lot of people who have inspired me in my life’s journey. I believe that everyone can be a role model with that special quality hidden in them. All you need is to take some time to think and appreciate yourself for what you learned in life and don’t stop there!! You need to educate yourself, give back, and spread happiness around.
