“Zoo: An excellent place to study the habits of human beings ~ Evan Esar”
How apt and sincere! This quote speaks volumes about zoos which are undoubtedly a safe haven for many endangered species. Many people believe that zoos cage animals and put them in small enclosures just for people to look at; they don’t give the animals any sort of freedom. Though that is true, people are so narrow-minded that they don’t bother to look at the positive side of zoos. To start with, zoos educate people. And that information they provide to the public could save a whole species. Secondly, zoos raise money for those endangered species that would not have survived in the wild. With the money raised, they give the species one more opportunity to bounce back and continue life. Last but not least, they give animals shelter, food, and protection from poachers, habitat loss, and predators.
Moreover, zoos teach people about every animal in the zoo. Why is this important? Because this information could save a whole species. In the description of every animal, their lifestyle, scientific name e.t.c., included that there will be the status of the species, meaning whether it is endangered critically endangered, and more. This information could motivate people to help and protect the specie(s) from all sorts of threats, including poaching, habitat loss, starvation, and more things that could have a great impact on those animals.
This brings us straight into the next positive about zoos, they raise money for endangered animals to save, breed, and reintroduce them to the wild where they belong. There have been up to 48 species of
animals, including birds, that have been rescued and released back to the wild, all because of conservation efforts. Some of these animals include the Panamanian Golden Frog, California Condor, and the Bongo.
Besides this, zoos provide animals with a protected environment. Around 1% of the world’s forest habitat is destroyed every year due to deforestation, and a protective environment is the best way to help them survive. Poaching is also a threat and some animals like the Arabian Oryx, which was hunted to extinction in the wild, were given a safe haven that enabled this endangered animal to overcome this peril.
To conclude, zoos might have their downsides but it definitely protects animals well and is considered the best option in today’s world where climate change and human intervention have caused havoc on the earth. Whether acceptable or not to innumerable minds, zoos unquestionably have saved countless species of animals, before they become extinct.

Today’s young generation is the future of tomorrow’s world. Sports can calm your mind, heal your heart and make you a strong person. Sports are played both inside and outside. Cycling, basketball, and tennis are a few outdoor sports. Badminton is an indoor sport. Some sports aren’t really something where you actually do physical exercises. Instead, these sports require critical thinking, as well as physical and mental well-being, which comes naturally when we involve ourselves in sports activities. Sports help in improving our overall personality and make us more active and attentive.
Sports can make you strong, and playing sports can also improve blood circulation. Muscles need more oxygen than they do when we’re at rest, so we have to breathe more quickly. Our heart starts to pump harder and faster to circulate blood to deliver oxygen to our muscles when we’re exercising. Subsequently, blood pressure rises and improves. Apart from the above, playing sports can make you active and happy. When our body is active and is exercising, it produces a hormone called endorphin, which throws us into a good mood. Playing sports is great for our morale!
Did you know that playing sports can improve your patience? Yes, patience is a very important factor in sports. Professional Golfer Gary Player once said, “Patience, practiced correctly, is a powerful mental tool that unlocks so many other positives and that will also give you the kind of perspective others may lack under pressure.” Every sports person must have the patience to complete practice and start the game.
Stress can also cease by playing sports. Exercise causes your body to release endorphins, the chemicals in your brain that vanquish pain and stress. It also reduces the levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline and studies have shown that 20 to 30 minutes of exercise each day can make students feel calmer. Teamwork can also be grasped by playing sports and can help give students stronger communication skills and teach them to work better with others.
Sport has great importance in building personality, too. For some people, it is not only the body movement or playing strategy, but it’s a life philosophy. Sports develop teamwork and team spirit, which in today's world is very important. But many look at the sport as a waste of time due to current changes, which is wrong. So, in the end, I would like to encourage each one of you to choose a sport of your choice and participate in it while encouraging others to do so as well.
