“If wishes were horses, beggars would ride” is a proverb that implies that, if just wishing could make things happen, then even the poorest of people would have everything they wanted.
While most people would want their dreams and aspirations to materialize with very little effort, however, in the real world this type of fairy tale occurrence is hard to come by. Achievements and dream fulfillment are invariably underpinned by diligent effort and consistent hard work.
This said, I also feel that wishing and dreaming of goals are the first steps in making any aspiration a reality. Unless you visualize something, it becomes difficult to actualize it. High performers, especially in sports, are trained to imagine the result they seek. This helps in motivating them to put in the necessary hard work to make the dream a reality. Similarly, as students we aspire to do well in class, join colleges of repute and make a career where the value we bring to our job is recognized and appreciated. However, none of this is even remotely possible without a foundation being created daily through our hard work and perseverance, year by year and class by class. When we excel in any field, it becomes easy to perform, and this is the result the world sees. But the toil and effort that happens behind the scene to reach that level of excellence remain hidden and unseen.
I take a personal cue from this, with my aspirations and dreams. However, I instinctively find myself drifting towards wishing for success, rather than working towards it. To overcome this I always remind myself that in reality, I don’t have a genie who grants me three wishes like Alladin had. Instead, I have to put in the effort to accomplish my goals, just like everyone else. In my opinion, working relentlessly towards your dreams constitutes the journey that defines life.
So, my interpretation of this proverb would be that just wishing for something and hoping it comes true without putting in the required effort to make it happen, is unrealistic and will not result in success.
Thus, if wishes were horses, they would need to be owned, nourished, fed, exercised, and trained, to ride them towards our goals! ‘

Students of Grade 3C conducted an assembly on the theme 'Happiness'. It was intriguing to watch them recite slokas and explain how important it is for us to keep ourselves and our loved ones happy. The props done by the students looked very appealing.
The skit reminded us of the different ways of bringing happiness to others and ourselves. There were scenes of helping others and showing kindness. The dance brightened up the morning with the song on happiness.

Hi everyone.. How did you celebrate Janmashtami this year? What do you like about God Krishna?? Janmashtami is Krishna's Happy birthday celebration, who would not like a birthday celebration isn't it??
I love to celebrate it. my mother used to dress me up as little Krishna every year on Janmashtami day but this year I chose to wear a shirt with a Krishna painting which we got from our guruvayur trip, and this year Janmashtami is more special as we got a lovely Krishna from Guruvayur itself- it feels like he is smiling at us every time I look at him!! We prepared many bacchanals - all Krishna's favorites as aachi said- butter murukku, seedai, the Kushal, and so many more names I forgot already!! and yes, his favorite Butter, milk, curd, and avalakki! Krishna is alankara priyan- which means he loves to be dressed up and celebrated!! so amma made all the decorations like every year- flowers, thulasi, lotus flowers were used.. and yes the footsteps were drawn using rice flour!! They are so tiny and cute!!!
This year's special -is Krishna nartanam kolam ( Krishna dance kolam ) which has so many Krishna footsteps and we decorated the kolam with flowers and dreams (diyas). This has a special meaning- Krishna comes and dances and rejoices at our place on Janmashtami!! to mark that we draw this kolam it seems!! interesting no? By evening we were all ready for pooja, bhajan, and naivedyam, yes we clicked lots of pics and blessings from elders, and yay we got to eat yum bakshanam!! Like a birthday party isn't complete without the snacks and games- Janmashtami is similar no? we had bakshanam prepared for Krishna, my grandparents told me so many stories about Kutty Krishna Leela, and I was told every child is like Krishna for all the naughtiness we do!! Amma keeps all the bakshanam at night hoping Krishna will rejoice in it!! and looks at it the next morning and does pooja. As always I love learning about new things at every festival. Let me know about your celebration too. Happy Janmashtami everyone, May we all be blessed by Lord Krishna and be happy and smiling.
