The language and culture of any country play an important role in making people connect with other people and help in making a strong nation. Hindi is one of the oldest languages and is also the official language of our country. That is why Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on September 14 to spread awareness about the importance of the Hindi language in the country.
Hindi Diwas is celebrated by the students in Ekya schools through a special assembly with lots of recreational activities.
We, the students of Ekya School, Byrathi campus, celebrated this special day with a lot of enthusiasm; despite it being a virtual event on Zoom.
The program started off with an introduction covering the importance of Hindi Diwas by the students of Grade 9, Grade 6, and Grade 4. We all learned the first few words of Hindi in Grade 1. This year, all the little children of Grade 1 introduced themselves in Hindi. They also sang poems in Hindi. Watching the little ones of Grade 1 perform with so much energy and zeal made everyone smile.
This was followed by a fun quiz for all the students. Grades 1 and 2 were put in one breakout room, 3 and 4 in another, 5 and 6 in the next, and 7-9 in the last breakout room.
In my breakout room, we played a quiz about general knowledge of Hindi. Some questions included – ‘Which song was the movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo named after?’
After we came back from the breakout session, 4th grader Drisha performed a dance on a song on our ‘rashtrabhasha’, Hindi, which was really beautiful.
The event ended with Grade 9 students who performed a skit on the importance of the Hindi language.
The importance of the Hindi language was highlighted in various ways in this event. It was indeed a fun and learning experience for the students of Ekya Byrathi.
