Reading week is often a firm favorite of both our students and teachers. Students from across all Grades right from Pre-Primary to Grade 8 took part in the Reading Week activities. Pre-Primary students were encouraged to come to school dressed as a famous character from a book. We at Ekya School encourage everyone to spend quality time reading, not just this week, but every week of the year!
The day one program began with an introduction to the importance of reading by Ms. Sreepriya Unnikrishnan our Academic coordinator, followed by recitation of a poem by Ms. Priyanka Ghosh, Senior English teacher followed by the reading pledge by students.
The events were filled with varied activities for students from Grade 1 to 8. We saw wholehearted participation from students of all age groups.
There were various activities like DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), Musical Book, Movie Reel, Travel to Wonderland, students solved jigsaw puzzles to guess the book and wrote imaginary stories based on the picture from the jigsaw puzzle, created magazine holders and many more.
We hosted a session, ‘Meet the author’, with renowned children’s author, Ms. Leela Gour Broome on 23rd January 2020 as part of Reading Week Activity. Our Students got an opportunity to interact with Ms. Leela as she spoke about her latest book “Earthquake Boy”.
