As the famous quote goes, “EVERYDAY IS A CHANCE TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW”.
After pondering for a long time and introspecting myself, I realized that I consider myself a sponge. Just as the sponge absorbs a lot of water, I get soaked in learning new things. I love to seek and learn anything new and interesting; be it art, music, fitness, everything excites me, and the best of me is seen, when I am wrung out, reflecting all my abilities. It is rightly said that ‘Never stop learning because life never stops teaching”.
With a pinch of positive attitude and enthusiasm, one can achieve the greatest things by keeping their mind open to new opportunities.
As I had the opportunity to learn and to teach at a young age, I was blessed to work with the children. Children constantly showed me how beautiful and amazing things in life can be done. If we all could see the world through the eyes of a child, we would see the magic in everything.
A child can teach us 3 things- to be happy, busy, and curious. We know that the future belongs to the curious. It belongs to the ones who are not afraid to try, explore, and question it. One should be ready to take that risk.
When you are curious, you find a lot of interesting things to do. I see the child in me when it comes to learning, exploring, and experimenting. Today I’m proud to be an educator. I can appreciate, teach, and be curious to see the magic around me.
Travel has been another important part of my life. It brings change, broadens your mind, and opens your heart. In my travel experiences, I’ve seen a lot of change. Change is important, it’s an opportunity to grow and learn life skills. Change is the mindset to accept and appreciate others.
In my professional career, abroad or India, I always wanted to make a difference in children. One such experience is when I worked as a primary teacher. I challenged myself to change a few students who were unnoticed and needed that attention. Simple gestures of compassion and awareness make all the difference. Making sure that such students are allowed to be motivated helps them in building their self-esteem and confidence.
As Dalai Lama rightly said. “When educating the minds of your youth, we must not forget to educate your heart”. Motivate yourself to reach that enthusiasm.
Life is a magnet. What you give is what you attract. I’m thankful to a lot of people who have inspired me in my life’s journey. I believe that everyone can be a role model with that special quality hidden in them. All you need is to take some time to think and appreciate yourself for what you learned in life and don’t stop there!! You need to educate yourself, give back, and spread happiness around.

I joined Ekya Schools in May, 2021 and my experience in Ekya School, Byrathi has been an enriching one till now. I am sure this experience will continue in the future. The primary reason for such an experience has been my inculcation into the IGCSE curriculum. I teach Environmental Management and Biology in Grade 9. What is particularly engrossing for me is the use of practical skills and analytical thinking that are promoted in the highest standards in this curriculum. This helps the teachers to learn along with the students. I have found that the subjects involve topics that are explicable in a very conceptual manner.
The focus is on applying these to the real world to enhance students’ understanding of the concept. It helps develop a story around every concept. Also, all the chapters are linked to each other, forming a holistic network of understanding around the entire subject. I particularly enjoy helping students make these interconnections in my lessons. For example, subjects like Environmental Management concern a lot of important issues that are transdisciplinary in nature and draw on disciplines like Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, etc to name a few. All of this and never missing crucial facts that affect us at individual, local and even national and global levels.
My students enjoy the various tools and resources and respond well to new ways of learning in my Biology lessons. This also drives me and other teachers to think of conducting lessons in an innovative manner. Overall, the students are involved in learning in an experiential manner that has a very practical and hands-on approach. It also helps in a smooth flow of communication between the teachers and the students, leading to better understanding. The IGCSE curriculum, overall, has been a real learning experience for me and I look forward to more in the days to come.

Power of Observation
Observe, Self-serve!
The power of observation is that,
would keep us awake even while bored at!
The mind would be
very kind and help us kindle
all images from noodle to a poodle.
All that credits go to the power
which will help us ascend any tower.
Oh! Do not worry about the tumbling.
Is there anything that's achieved without fumbling?
Think it over! And,
grab the power!
For, we are all here for a cause,
to learn without any pause.
