Service learning is important to Ekya as it helps students identify themselves as part of the community and pick up on civic engagement skills. Apart from the opportunities to work with diverse members of the community, service learning is a teaching and learning potential that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and a program to teach civic responsibility. Giving back to the community is at the heart of Ekya’s service learning.

At Ekya, students participate in newspaper drives organized annually with all efforts directed towards charity.

Fundraising is not just a means of raising money, but also a way to promote the message and goals of a charity. Given enough time and funds, a charity has the potential to go global. It ensures that the charity can continue funding and helping its cause.

The students of Ekya School JP Nagar had a mega fundraising event with various food stall, games and hand made craft items for sale. The proceeds of this will be directed in sponsoring the education of girls of Grades 6 to 10, studying in St. Anthony’s School, Banashankari, under the care of the Calvary Chapel Trust. The Calvary Chapel Trust is a childcare institution providing education and a family environment to HIV infected and affected children.
