ABOUT EKYA
Ekya schools is a community of learners, thinkers, doers and changemakers. Ekya stands for a sense of togetherness, collaboration and unity – Ekya is a community where everyone forges ahead with purpose. The word Ekya is derived from the Sanskrit word “Aikyam” which stands for oneness. It embodies the spirit of collaboration and togetherness while allowing space for the individual to grow. The Ekya logo can be interpreted in many ways and we love seeing students derive their own meaning from it.
Drawing on the legacy of the CMR Group of Institutions and National Public Schools and the innovative, immersive methods of school systems around the world, our schools were instituted with one aim – to teach children not just what to learn, but how to learn. Here, knowing how to learn is a skill in itself, and the key to creating lifelong learners with the means to adapt and thrive in a constantly changing world.

LIVE THE LESSON
The curriculum at Ekya focuses on learning to understand and transference of learning to new situations. Hence it is less about “quantity of learning” and more to ensure “quality of learning”.
Who We Are
Ekya is a community of children, educators, and parents where everyone learns together. Drawing on the 35-year educational legacy of the CMR Group of Institutions and the innovative methods of school systems around the world, our learning model goes beyond conventional norms. CMR GROUP
The CMR Group of Institutions was created as a tribute to the visionary educationist Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy.
The CMR Group is spread across Bangalore, with 11 active campuses. The Group offers academic programs covering such topics as engineering, education, law, management, biosciences, business administration and psychology for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
We have partnered with the National Educational Trust, inaugurating the NPS International School in Singapore – a 6-acre campus. We enable children to learn through our schools, research centres, pre-university colleges and our private universities.
Ekya Schools is the latest addition in the CMR Group of K-12 schools.
CMR University
CMR(U) was established to advance university education in technical, health, management, and life sciences. CMR(U) believes creativity is the key component to excel in our world. We recognize independent thinkers, artists, product leaders, designers, and innovators are the need of the hour
Inculcating creative concepts and design thinking in our students, we develop skills such as teamwork, presentation, initiative, and research capability. CMR(U) aims to foster creative communities where students can be nurtured to make discoveries and share creations.
CMR Jnanadhara Trust
The CMR Jnanadhara Trust was established in 1990, as a tribute to the late Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy, a visionary educationist and philanthropist who believed that every individual deserves access to a quality education. In accordance with his vision, the CMR educational institutes were founded to give every student a chance at an outstanding, value-based and well-rounded education. The CMR Jnanadhara Trust supports and manages all the activities of the CMR Group of Institutions.
Ekya Schools
Founded in 2010, Ekya Schools, part of the CMR Group of Institutions, is a forward-thinking chain of K-12 schools that promotes a culture of community and collaboration. The school emphasises cultivating curiosity and inquisitiveness through active learning. Ekya’s curriculum, instructional methods, and assessment practices are centred around students, incorporating the latest research and evidence. To maintain the highest learning standards, Ekya’s educators participate in specialised professional development programmes created internally.

Chairman, CMR group of institutions. Chairman, Ekya Board of GovernorsMr. K.C Ramamurthy has been a part of the Indian Police Service and as the Registrar of Bangalore University. He was appointed as the Commissioner of Youth Services and Sports Inspector General of Police in Bangalore. In 2016, he was nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha. He has received the Kempegowda Award and the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award for his undivided focus on improving education quality.
Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy
President, CMR Jnanadhara Trust | Chancellor, CMR UniversityDr. Sabitha Ramamurthy is a visionary. She founded the CMR Jnanadhara Trust in 1990. The Trust started the National Junior School (now CMR National Public School). What began as a modest school in an orchard is now a full-fledged CBSE school. Today, CMR Group runs 20 institutions in Bengaluru, educating thousands of students annually.

Dr. Tristha Ramamurthy is an educator with over 15 years of experience transforming education systems. From founding her first school at 23 to leading initiatives in school and higher education, she remains committed to leading innovation to nurture the next generation of learners.
As a passionate advocate of educational transformation for economic and social growth, she firmly believes that high-quality teacher support is a pivotal lever. Her doctorate research made a case for improved teacher status by providing teachers with opportunities to understand and communicate the complexity of teaching work. Her past research has focused on educational equity, teacher motivation, education policy, and curriculum construction. She has also published a book titled “Creating Extraordinary Educators”.
Dr. Tristha’s academic qualifications include a Master’s in Education from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree from Singapore Management University. She also holds a Doctorate in Education from King’s College, London. She is enrolled in the prestigious Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Dr. Tristha is an early-stage startup advisor and investor, having invested in AdmitKard, HealthifyMe, Lo! Foods, Toodle, and others. She has served as the first female President of YPO Bangalore and is a Board Trustee of One Billion Literates Foundation.
She is a fitness enthusiast, an avid art collector, and passionate about organic farming, which includes setting up the family aquaponic farm.
